I didn't see much in the way of respect when it came to the coverage of that important election by one so-called newspaper.

LETTER | Ignoring harbormaster input does not serve Biddeford’s interest
"A report from UNE pier engineers to city of Biddeford clearly shows UNE’s intent to ignore our local harbormaster’s input on pier location. It does so by showing that all other pier permits will be secured before a permit from Biddeford itself.
LETTER | Anonymous writer attacks anonymous UNE critics
"Nothing says “clarity, consistency, and transparency” quite like a Yahoo account with a mysterious name, a lengthy distribution list, and another installment of allegations, rumors, speculation, innuendo, and recycled grievances dating back nearly a decade."
OPINION | Recent story seemed unnecessarily critical
We cannot expect a new mayor and city council to fix problems that have existed in Biddeford for years -- in just six months
LETTER | Biddeford is on the right track with UNE
"In the last decade certain processes have been sloppy. Our elected officials are now determined to clean it all up, not an easy task."
OPINION | Gazette repeated ‘false narratives,’ further eroding public discourse about UNE
The Biddeford Gazette’s May 17 article, “UNE describes their relationship with Biddeford as ‘broken,’” makes several factual errors and perpetuates false narratives about the proposed research pier.
LETTER | Biddeford needs to face financial reality
"For many families in Biddeford, the financial reality is no longer theoretical. Property taxes continue to rise while wages, retirement income, and household purchasing power struggle to keep pace. "
LETTER | Maybe BHS students need a ‘refresher’ lesson about littering
Editor: It was great to see the story about Biddeford High School students engaged in their Community Service Day. LETTER | Gazette should try harder on UNE reporting
Editor: I agree with Linda Morrison's point about the contributions that the University of New England brings to the communities of Saco and Biddeford. [UNE offers numerous, positive impacts to the community; Biddeford Gazette, April 26, 2026] UNE Professors, students, and graduates bring immeasurable talent, knowledge, and positive energy to our communities. Their civic-minded assistance … Continue reading LETTER | Gazette should try harder on UNE reporting
LETTER | UNE offers numerous, positive impacts to the community
Editor: I write as a former homeowner in Biddeford and a faculty member for over 30 years at the University of New England. I have been astonished at recent allegations and questions regarding UNE and what we actually offer the community and taxpayers of Biddeford. THE WRITER points out the many significant impacts that UNE … Continue reading LETTER | UNE offers numerous, positive impacts to the community
LETTER | Community is worth the investment
Editor: As a taxpayer on a fixed income who has paid into this system for years, I understand the pressure people are feeling. Rising costs are real. But I’m also the president of a very small, all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing Biddeford’s history and culture, and I think this conversation is missing something … Continue reading LETTER | Community is worth the investment
LETTER | Seeds of Hope remains as Biddeford’s most cost-effective and humane method of meeting human needs
Editor: I would like to respond to your recent article on the city council budget discussions around funding for the Seeds of Hope Center. (Biddeford’s unhoused funding challenges, April 24, 2026). It is helpful to recall that the city, working cooperatively with Seeds of Hope, was successful in resolving a significant human tragedy and public … Continue reading LETTER | Seeds of Hope remains as Biddeford’s most cost-effective and humane method of meeting human needs
