I agree with Linda Morrison’s point about the contributions that the University of New England brings to the communities of Saco and Biddeford. [UNE offers numerous, positive impacts to the community; Biddeford Gazette, April 26, 2026]
UNE Professors, students, and graduates bring immeasurable talent, knowledge, and positive energy to our communities. Their civic-minded assistance in beach management and ocean studies is both interesting and helpful.
Too often, the Gazette’s coverage of UNE activities, such as the new pier and property purchases, features a hint of suspicion and ill will where there is none. That underlying negative bias harms the Gazette’s journalistic integrity in its reporting about UNE. It’s good to see the Gazette entertain a positive opinion of UNE, looking forward to more of them in the future.
