The Lady Tigers and the boys’ soccer team wasted no time, and got a jump on their first official practices under the bright lights of Waterhouse Field at midnight on Monday

According to multiple sources, Biddeford sports fans can expect big things and strong performances from Biddeford’s varsity field hockey team this year.
At 12:01 a.m. Monday, the Lady Tigers held their first official practice in what is becoming an annual tradition of starting the pre-season with an opening midnight practice.
Shelly Kane of the Biddeford School Department said the Maine Principals Association (MPA) has strict rules about when practices can begin.
August 17 is the first day for team practices, according to the MPA; and Head Coach Caitlyn Tremberth told her players that she was happy to see their excitement and enthusiasm but cautioned them that team discipline will be a crucial component for success this year.
According to Kane, this will be the Lady Tigers 50th year of field hockey play.

On the other end of Waterhouse Field, the boys’ soccer team was also starting its practice season with some stretching exercises.
Head Coach Paul Illiano said his team will open their regular season against Bonny Eagle on Sept.4. “We got some work to do, but I’m feeling good,” Illiano said in the wee hours of Monday morning.
