When the Lady Tigers stepped onto Waterhouse Field to face the Windham Eagles on Tuesday evening, they did so with a special person in mind.

The game honored the life and memory of Thomas Behen, a 2017 graduate of Biddeford High School whose impact continues to be felt throughout the Biddeford community.

Thomas and his family share a special connection with Biddeford Field Hockey. His younger sister, Maggie, was a member of the team, and his family will always be considered part of the Biddeford Field Hockey family.

The team was proud to dedicate Tuesday’s game to Thomas while raising funds and awareness for the Thomas Behen Fund.

The Tigers added another victory to their season, defeating Windham 4-1. Goals were scored by freshman Melania Jackson, junior captain Mia Mariello, sophomore Rachel Lagasse, and freshman Aubrey Forcier.

Strong play through the midfield also helped fuel the offense, with captains Cordelia Kane and Lola Laverriere, along with junior Laken Mills, helping lead the attack.

Biddeford’s defense once again delivered, with sophomore goalie Madelyn Burton turning away multiple shots on goal. Junior captain Alivia Aberle and sophomores Hailey Burke and Lileigh LeBreton provided strong support in front of her, using their speed and persistence to help keep Windham’s offense in check.

The victory was a full-team effort, with contributions from players across the field throughout the night.

While the win was another strong result for the Tigers, Tuesday night was about much more than the final score. The team was proud to play in Thomas’ memory and help continue his legacy through the Thomas Behen Fund.
