JOEL E. NEVERS

Jan. 17, 1946 – Aug. 9, 2026

COTE FUNERAL HOME | Joel Nevers, 80, of Biddeford, passed away on August 9, 2026.

Born on January 17, 1946, to Mary Jo and Ollie Nevers, Joel grew up on the South Side of Chicago in the Calumet Region. He moved to Maine in 1978 and made his home there for the remainder of his life.

Joel was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served in the Amphibious Navy during the Vietnam War, including in Da Nang and Hue during the Tet Offensive of 1967-68.

Over the course of his diverse working life, Joel was very proud of his skilled precision welding in the defense industry, as well as the private glass art company that he owned and operated in Kennebunkport under the name of Cat’s Paw Glassart.

Later in life, he returned to school, earning a BSW and MSW in clinical social work, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern Maine. He worked for several mental health agencies and hospitals before establishing a private clinical practice in Kennebunk. Helping others became an important part of his life’s work.

Joel was a longtime member of the recovery community, where he valued the wisdom, friendship, and support of many people over the years.

He was predeceased by his brother, Gregory Nevers; and by his first wife, Susan Herman.

Joel is survived by his wife, Linda Brown of 21 years; by his three children, Patrick Nevers and wife Maureen of Randolph, VT, David Nevers of Parsonsfield, ME, and Elizabeth Poloncak and husband Jeffrey of Rancho Santa Margarita; by his sister, Andrea (Andi) Eddington; as well as by six nephews, three nieces and many extended family members and dear friends.

Joel lived a full and varied life marked by perseverance, creativity, service, personal growth, friendship, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

BARBARA PATRICIA DIMODICA

Jan. 2, 1936 – Aug. 13, 2026

DENEETT, CRAIG & PATE | Barbara Patricia DiModica, 90, passed away peacefully on August 13,2026 in Old Orchard Beach surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of 65 years to Philip V. DiModica, who predeceased her.

Barbara was born January 2, 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only child of Herman Faucy and Stephania Narushkevich. She married Philip V. DiModica at St. Stanislaus Polish Catholic Church in Chelsea, Massachusetts on October 14, 1956.

Barbara grew up in Chelsea, was a 1953 graduate of Chelsea High School, and graduated first in her class from Hickox Secretarial School in Boston. She was hired as a Legal Secretary prior to graduation by Samuel E. Seegel, Esq, State Street, Boston.

The family vacationed in Old Orchard Beach beginning in the late 1950s, bought a cottage and took up full-time residence several years later.

Barbara’s family was always the most important thing in her life, and she devoted herself to this responsibility full time until her children were grown. She then worked for the Town of Old Orchard Beach in the Assessor’s office for 20 years, retiring in 2006.

She was a lifelong communicant and Eucharistic Minister at Margaret’s Church, serving as a CYO advisor and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was an active member of the OOB American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post #57, including time as president.

ln addition to her husband Philip, Barbara is predeceased by her son-in-law Daniel Aube. She is survived by her four children, Barbara Aube of Old Orchard Beach with whom she lived; Michael and his wife June of Andover, Massachusetts; P. Vincent and his wife Darlene of Saco and Stephanie and her husband Todd Hoyt of Saco. Also survived by seven grandchildren who were the love of her life: Catherine (Philip), Katherine, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Anthony, Alexandra and Francesca, and great-grandchildren Gianna and Lorenzo.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the Dennett Craig Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main Street, Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church, 6 Saco Avenue, Old Orchard Beach. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Malden, Massachusetts at a later date. | FULL OBITUARY


FRANCIS NORMAN LEDOUX

May 8, 1934 – Aug. 9, 2026

HOPE MEMORIAL CHAPEL | Francis Norman Ledoux, 92 of Biddeford Maine passed away peacefully August 9, 2026 in Scarborough at Gosnell Hospice after a long bout with cancer.

Francis was born May 8, 1934 in Biddeford at Webber Hospital to Arthur Joseph Soucy and Blanche Soucy. He was adopted at ten years old by Frank X. Ledoux and Alma M. Ledoux.

Francis had eight siblings, Arthur, Gertrude, Georgeanne, Suzanne, Skip, Paul, and Pat.

Francis joined the Air Force in 1952 and served for four years. He met and married Priscilla L. LeProhon, February 15, 1957.

Francis is survived by five children, Catherine Anne Jorden, Jean Marie Jones, Donna Theresa Stewart, Norman Francis Ledoux and his wife Pamela; and Elizabeth Mary Small and her husband Steven M. Small. He had seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Francis worked at Kaman Aero Space, Portland Naval Shipyard and Napa Auto Parts. He was a devoted father and husband. He loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also fixed cars for many people that needed help and helped anyone who needed help.

Francis had a very big heart and left many good friends and neighbors behind.

Burial will be held at Southern Maine Veteran’s Cemetery on Tuesday, August 18, at 12 pm. | FULL OBITUARY


RICHARD CHARLES PERREAULT

March 9, 1943 – Oct. 27, 2025

HOPE MEMORIAL CHAPEL | Richard Charles Perreault, of Biddeford, passed away on October 27, 2025. He was 82 years old.

Born in Biddeford, Maine, on March 9, 1943, Richard was the son of Charles Eugene Perreault and Lillian (Couture) Perreault.

Richard was a hardworking and talented man whose life was defined by his dedication to his family, his work, and his remarkable ability to build and create. He began his career as a plumber, working in the trade for eleven years before founding Dick Perreault and Sons Excavation, a business that reflected both his entrepreneurial spirit and his exceptional mechanical skill.

Richard later devoted many years of service to the City of Biddeford, where he operated heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, backhoes, and other machinery. He retired in July 2013 after a career marked by dedication, dependability, and pride in a job well done.

Away from work, Richard’s greatest enjoyment was found in his cellar workshop, which housed a machine shop, welding shop, and tin shop. A gifted craftsman, he loved working with his hands, fabricating tools, repairing equipment, and creating anything he could imagine. He possessed an extraordinary mechanical mind and found satisfaction in solving problems and building things that would last.

Richard was predeceased by his sister, Rachel Boissonneault, who died on November 23, 2014.

He is survived by his sons, Ronald Perreault of Biddeford and Ryan Perreault and his wife, Lisa, of Waterboro; his grandchildren, Matthew and Alyssa; his brother, Robert Perreault and his wife, Jacqueline, of Pace, Florida; and his sisters, Renee Fournier of Biddeford and Ruth Perreault of Biddeford. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will remember him fondly.

Richard will be remembered as a man of integrity, quiet determination, and exceptional skill. His legacy lives on through the work he accomplished, the things he created, and the example he set for those who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 22, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford at 11 am. | FULL OBITUARY
