Biddeford Tigers Can’t Quite Erase Four-Run Deficit in Loss to Cheverus Monday

Despite a 4-run deficit in the sixth inning, the Biddeford Tigers almost came all the way back, eventually falling 6-5 to the Cheverus Stags on Monday at St Louis Field. Biddeford closed the gap by scoring on a walk, a walk and a walk.
The Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Cheverus Varsity Stags committed an error, and Michael Elwell singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Cheverus made the score 3-2 in the top of the third after Will Baker singled, scoring two runs, and Nathan Collins scored after tagging up.
Nate Connor earned the win for the Stags. The hurler allowed two hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking none. Elwell took the loss for Biddeford.
The pitcher went three and one-third innings, giving up one run on two hits, striking out four and walking none. Alex Gosselin stepped on the mound first for Biddeford. The hurler gave up four hits and five runs (four earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking six. Colton Jewett earned the save.

Marcus Soucy, Payton Blais, Ernie Dore, and Elwell each collected one hit for Biddeford. Blais, Gosselin, Evan Doyon, and Elwell each drove in one run for the Tigers. Biddeford turned one double play in the game.
Baker drove the middle of the lineup, leading Cheverus with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Grady Hughes, Riley Daigle, Jackson Holmes, Scottie Sockabasin, Baker and Liam Kalakowsky each collected one hit for the Stags.

Holmes paced Cheverus with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Holmes stole two bases. Cheverus turned two double plays in the game.
Biddeford faces Massabesic at home today, Tuesday, May 19.
