The Biddeford Cultural and Heritage Center (BCHC) is seeking nominations for the 2026 Biddeford Hall of Fame, now in its ninth year. This program recognizes and celebrates citizens of Biddeford or others who have contributed to the history, heritage, and culture of the city or the world at large in a significant way.

Honorees will be inducted at a ceremony set for Saturday, September 26, at noon at Biddeford High School.

“Last year’s nominees will be hard to match, but every year there are many great people to celebrate. The final decision, choosing only five or six inductees, is always difficult,” said Diane Cyr, BCHC board president.

Cyr said nominees are people who have made a significant impact on our community, state, or the world at large.

“It’s great to give them and their loved ones the recognition they deserve and to share their stories with everyone. It’s important to remember where we came from and how far we can go,” Cyr said.

Nominations should be submitted on nomination forms available on the BCHC website. The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2026. Nominations are open now.

Along with this year’s nominations, most nominations that were submitted but not selected in past years will also be considered.

Hall of Fame nominations and future inductees are selected by a vote of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. The committee, composed of members of BCHC, the Biddeford Historical Society, and members of the public will take into consideration the significance of a nominee’s ethnic background as well as their other contributions. People may nominate themselves.

“It’s important to remember
where we came from
and how far we can go.”

— Diane Cyr, BCHC president

Those who have nominated candidates in the past are strongly encouraged to resubmit an application along with any additional supporting documentation, testimonials, photos, or press coverage.

Much of what is available for nominees being carried over is outdated or lacks significant information. Supporters are also encouraged to submit additional information on behalf of their nominees.

The inductees are featured prominently in a display at Biddeford City Hall, which is open to the public during business hours. They are also featured on banners hung immediately following the ceremony on Main and Lincoln streets in Biddeford for a period of time.

Immediately following the induction ceremony, Hall of Fame members and other participants will be treated to a special reception at the school. Representatives of BCHC will be present for those interested in learning more about the organization and its other programs serving the community and will answer any questions about getting involved.

To nominate someone for the Biddeford Hall of Fame, please submit the nomination form found on our website, along with supporting information, to Biddeford Cultural & Heritage Center, P.O. Box 896 Biddeford, ME 04005-0896; or via email: bchc04005@gmail.com
