Offense hard to come by | Biddeford loses 3-1 to Noble

Both teams were strong on the hill on Friday, but the Noble Knights were just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-1 victory over Biddeford Tigers in their varsity baseball matchup.
Ernie Dore started the game for Tigers and recorded 26 outs.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the third after Braiden Coutu induced Evan Doyon to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Travis Cole singled to center field, which helped Noble tie the game at one in the top of the fourth.
The Knights captured the lead, 3-1, in the top of the ninth after Cole singled down the left field line, and Evan Ballard flew out, each scoring one run.
Aiden Torno earned the win for Noble. The hurler allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking two.
Dore took the loss for the Tigers. The starter went eight and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking one. Coutu started on the bump for Noble. The pitcher gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out two and walking one. Carl Gregoire earned the save.

Dore, Alex Gosselin, Doyon, and Parker Blais each collected one hit for Biddeford, Doyon led the Tigers with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day.
The Tigers turned one double play in the game, sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Colton Sirois made the most plays with eight.
Cole led Noble with two runs batted in, and went 2-for-3 on the day.
The Knights ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game.
