Laura Seaver is the publisher of the Biddeford Gazette. She prompted her husband, Randy, to launch an independent news site to help fill gaps in media coverage regarding the city of Biddeford.
Although not a Biddeford native, Laura feels strongly connected to her new hometown where she has lived for more than 20 years.

Laura was appointed by Mayor Alan Casavant to serve on the city’s Policy Committee, a role she greatly enjoyed. She was also elected to serve two terms on the Biddeford School Committee.
In 2015, Laura was one of two candidates who won a crowded five-way race for one of the two at large seats on the Biddeford City Council, edging out former mayor Joanne Twomey.
Two years later, she easily won reelection as an at-large representative on the Biddeford City Council.
Laura earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Southern Maine. She is a licensed social worker, and she now works part-time as a crisis worker for a non-profit mental health agency in Cumberland County.
In her free time, Laura enjoys camping, fly-fishing and kayaking,
