Randy Seaver brings to the table more than three decades of professional experience in journalism, advocacy and public relations.
Randy’s journalism career began as a non-paid student intern at the daily Journal Tribune in 1981. Since then, he has worked for several different publications as a reporter, columnist and editor.
As a longtime consumer of mental health services, Randy is also an outspoken advocate for others who regularly battle with a variety of mental illnesses. He has testified before the Maine Legislature and served on numerous discussion panels as a guest speaker throughout New England, calling for an end to mental health stigma and encouraging others to seek treatment.
As the editor of a trusted community news organization, Randy recognizes his responsibility and obligation to address and manage his bipolar diagnosis with medication, and ongoing treatment with his psychiatrist and clinical therapist.
“With appropriate medication and treatment resources, the world is your oyster,” he says. “I just want others to feel comfortable and come out of the shadows. These are conversations that affect and impact millions of Americans.
“I have an obligation to continue treatment for the benefit of the Gazette’s readers but also for my family, friends and co-workers,” he added.
Randy and his wife, Laura, live in Biddeford, and they are actively involved in the community. Laura previously served two consecutive terms as an at-large city councilor and served two terms as a member of the Biddeford School Committee. She also served on the city’s Policy Committee.
Today, Randy is focused on the city of Biddeford, Maine, from City Hall to Biddeford Pool and everywhere in between. Randy is always striving to find the news and information that might otherwise slip through the cracks.
