The Biddeford Tigers field hockey team opened their season on Friday on the road against a competitive Sanford Warriors team, battling through regulation and into double overtime before securing a thrilling 5-4 victory.
Junior captain Mia Mariello led the Tigers’ offense with four goals, including the game-winner. Senior captain Cordelia Kane also found the back of the net, scoring off a stroke.

Sanford challenged Biddeford throughout the game, forcing the Tigers into double overtime. With the score tied 4-4, Mariello delivered the deciding goal to seal the season-opening win.
The Lady Tigers will return to Waterhouse Field on Saturday, September 12 to face Noble in their home opener.
