A well-known lobbyist and former legislator joins the non-profit news organization’s Community Advisory Council; and a Massachusetts marketing professional joins the parent company’s board of directors.

The Biddeford Gazette is pleased to announce that Chris O’Neil and Lisa Eddy have joined our team and will help support our mission to provide readers with a trusted and reliable source for news, opinion and information about the city of Biddeford.
O’Neil is now the newest member of the Gazette’s Community Advisory Council, an 11-member board that helps guide and support the Gazette’s news team and its community coverage.
Edddy will take on a less visible role, serving as vice president and volunteer director of marketing for Biddeford Gazette, Inc., the non-profit’s parent company.
“We are so honored that Chris and Lisa have decided to join our team, and help us continue to grow,” said Laura Seaver, the Gazette’s publisher. “When you step back and look at the more than 15 community members who have stepped up to support local journalism, it reaffirms what we believed from the very beginning: that Biddeford is eager to have its own, professionally run news outlet.”

CHRIS O’NEIL was born in Biddeford, raised in Saco — and now resides in Portland. The O’Neil family has deep roots in Biddeford.
Chris represented the city Saco in the Maine House of Representatives, where he served as a member of the Banking & Insurance Committee for eight years.
He later served as director of government relations for Drummond Woodsum, a Portland-based law firm – representing clients ranging from non-profits and Fortune 500 companies to labor unions and environmental organizations.
Today, Chris runs O’Neil Policy Consulting, specializing in state government relations. In 2010, he directed the statewide referendum to defeat three proposed casinos in Calais, Lewiston and Biddeford.
Chris has served on the boards of numerous nonprofits, including Saco Little League, St. Mary’s Church and Literacy Volunteers of York County.
Chris earned a dual degree in English and Journalism from Assumption College and University of Southern Maine, and he considers himself a defender of the English language and the AP Stylebook.
Chris said he is “thrilled to help the Biddeford Gazette navigate and lead the evolving nature of local news reporting, to ensure an informed citizenry.”

LISA EDDY is a resident of Seekonk, Mass, and serves as the Gazette’s volunteer marketing director. She works full-time as the Marketing Manager, Tradeshows and Events at Mott Corporation.
Lisa has been lifelong friends with Laura Seaver, the Gazette’s publisher. She has been quietly helping the organization since it was launched nearly two years ago.
Lisa earned her MBA in Marketing from Fitchburg State University.
