In a classic ‘Battle of the Bridge’ matchup on their home turf, the Thornton Academy Trojans handed the Biddeford High School varsity baseball team a stinging 9-3 loss Thursday thanks, in part, to five runs in the fourth inning.
The Trojans got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Brayden Duane singled to center field, and Noah Fullerton doubled to right field, each scoring one run.

Biddeford jumped back into the lead in the top of the second inning after Colton Sirois singled to center field, and Thornton committed an error, each scoring one run.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Trojans went back into the lead after Carter Moody walked, and Duane grounded out, each scoring one run.
Thornton went on to score five runs on two hits in the bottom of the fourth. Brennan Tabor scored after tagging up, an error scored one run, Parker Bjorklund singled, scoring one run; Ernie Dore induced Enjamin to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored; and Tyler Do grounded out, scoring one run.
Andrew Stryker earned the win for the Trojans. The reliever allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one.
Dore took the loss for Biddeford. The hurler went five innings, allowing nine runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking four. Cameron Kirby began the game for Thornton. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and two runs (zero earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none. Cole Fernald earned the save.
Marcus Soucy, Payton Blais, Evan Doyon, and Sirois each collected one hit for Biddeford Varsity Tigers. Sirois led Biddeford Varsity Tigers with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day.
Tabor, Thornton’s number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Duane and Fullerton were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Trojans. Tabor stole two bases.
Thornton had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game, and turned one double play in the game.
The Biddeford Tigers will travel to Westbrook to face the Blue Blazes for their next game on Saturday.
