Biddeford motorcyclist killed in fatal crash

According to the Saco Police Department, Michael Peterson, 52, of Biddeford, died this morning as the result of crash between a motorcycle and car near 838 Portland Road in Saco.

The Saco Emergency Communications Center received 9-1-1 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash on the Portland Road, shortly before 7 a.m. Friday.

Preliminary investigations and evidence gathered at the scene indicate that a gray Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on the Portland Road and attempted to pass a tractor trailer truck making a right turn into a business, when the motorcycle crossed the double yellow center lines into the path of a southbound red Chevy Equinox, leading to a tragic head-on collision.

Peterson, the driver of the motorcycle, was transported to Maine Medical Center (Portland) where he was pronounced deceased.

The operator of the Chevy Equinox was identified as Mickie Cyr, age 53, of Saco, who was transported to Maine Medical Center (Portland) with non-life-threatening injuries.

Portland Road in Saco was closed for several hours this morning while the Kennebunk Police Department and Saco Police Department Crash Investigation Units responded to the scene. The incident remains under investigation, according to police.
